Coffee of the Month // October // Poco Loco

'Poco Loco'

Origin = Mexico (Finca San Alfonso)

Process = Wahed

Notes = Fudge // Raisin // Plum

Roast = Espresso + Filter + Cold Brew

Mexico is often left out when people list famous coffee origins, Yet it has a lot to offer: distinctive and fruity profiles,

So.... we celebrate mexico this month. The land of speciality coffee and "Día de los Muertos" (The day of the dead).

October's coffee of the month is produced by Alejandro Martinez at his farm Finca San Alfonso. His family has been producing coffee in Coatepec, Veracruz since the mid 19th century but the 180 hectares farm was largely abandoned during the 1980s.

Alejandro decided to reactivate the farm a few years ago, renovating it with new hybrid varietals that are resistant to disease. Perky Blenders tasted a few of them this year through friends at Ensambles Cafes Mexicanos and the Marsellesa variety was their favourite one.

The cup is very sweet and also displays lovely fermented fruit flavours. A great companion for these chilly autumn mornings.
